Notification of major gas works: Barnett Wood Lane, Ashtead
Surrey Gas Networks have written via Cllr Chris Townsend to advise that there will be roadworks to upgrade of the gas network in Barnett Wood Lane. Their contractor KLT construction will undertake this work.
So that disruption can be minimised, they have carefully consulted and planned their works in partnership with Surrey County Council. Their work will start on 30th July and is expected to last approximately five weeks.
Their engineers will be working on Barnett Wood Lane between its junction with Oakfield Road and the Craddocks Avenue/Woodfield Lane roundabout. When they are working in Barnett Wood Lane at its junction with Woodfield, they will need to install temporary three-way traffic lights to ensure everyone’s safety and to maintain traffic flow. Once the upgrades are completed at this junction, they will install two-way temporary traffic lights around our work area which will move eastwards along Barnett Wood Lane towards the roundabout.

They say they understand that roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Ashtead residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
