Denise Coutts, the new District Commissioner for Girlguiding in Ashtead, is appealing for more volunteer leaders.
In Ashtead there are around 200 girls aged between 5 and 15 already involved in Girlguiding and the long waiting lists reflect how popular it still is. Sadly some of the Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units are at risk of closure unless more volunteer leaders are found to expand, strengthen and secure the units.
Women do not need to have been in Girlguiding as a child to become a leader, as any necessary training and support is provided through the Adult Leadership Scheme. Leaders have great fun, make new friends and learn new skills alongside the girls. www.girlguiding.org.uk has more information.
We would love to hear from any women aged 18 or over, who would like to learn more about volunteering.
See our website www.girlguidingashtead.org.uk for further details.
